Maceo Plex Drops Mosaic at Mambo
One of the leading lights on the underground tech scene, Maceo Plex, paid a very welcome visit to Mambo last Tuesday to preparty his brand new night at Pacha, Mosaic. The American born producer and DJ, who hit the headlines at the Amnesia Closing party last season for dropping the Four Tet remix of Opus by Eric Prydz, was making his debut appearance at Cafe Mambo and a cool and trendy crowd turned out in style to greet him.
He was joined in the DJ Booth by fellow countryman, Danny Daze, and the pair treated us to some sublime techno during their extended 2 hour set. The dark atmosphere of Mosaic, with its cool Black branding was evident right from the beginning with Danny Daze introducing us to one or two of his own productions which included a slick unreleased remix of Planet E by Tiga and his recent release Ready To Go. Maceo Plex then joined Danny Daze in the booth and the pair went b2b for the rest of the night, which went on longer than scheduled as Maceo Plex and his crew were clearly enjoying themselves.
Maceo Plex dropped a number of unreleased tracks that had the crowd punching the air in anticipation of the next slice of deep tech house coming their way and we were not disappointed. One track we were able to tag was his own remix of Dive Into The Deepest by Murr. The mood of the evening was kept consistent throughout, one of the traits of a Maceo Plex set, that also included his distinctive deep bass sound and effects. It was a night that could have gone on for much longer had both DJ´s not had to leave for their sets at Pacha.
