Mambo 2022 Round Up
As the year draws to a close our minds begin to cast back over the previous months, scanning for the memories that have made the biggest impact in our brains. It’s a time of reflection (not to mention toe-numbing temperatures), and here at Mambo, we can’t help but reminisce about one of the greatest summers we can remember in a very long time.
All of the usual Mambo magic ingredients were present — jaw-dropping sunsets, tune-dropping DJs, plate-dropping waiters (just kidding), and after a two-year hiatus, everything just seemed to combine to create the kind of Ibiza memories that live on in our thoughts long after the moment has passed. For us, every day is unique, but for the sake of you lot, we’ve put our heads together and managed to come up with three outstanding moments from summer 2022. Read it and weep.
1. The Return of Fatboy Slim
There is no DJ in the world who can pump the Mambo booth (nor pull off a colourful shirt) quite like our main man Norm. Every year he joins us on sunset strip, and every year he blows everyone away with his high energy sets and unparalleled dedication to the party. This year, his son Woody (who’s following in Fatboy’s footsteps as a superstar DJ), surprised everyone by leaping out of a box in front of his dad, who had no clue he was on the island! High fives, tears and many shots of hierbas were shared. A special night indeed.
2. Bob Sinclar Gets Sassy
If there’s anyone who knows how to make an entrance it’s Parisian king of smooth, Bob Sinclar. On one occasion this summer he rocked up to Mambo to play for the Glitterbox pre-party with 15 of his fabulous queens by his side. Donned head to toe in feathers, sequins, and spandex, and with boasting more sass than your granny after two whiskies, they made an entrance that no one present will ever forget! Watching them parade on the rocks at sunset for an impromptu photoshoot was a show in itself!
3. Alec Monopoly Lets Loose
It’s not every day that a world famous street artist from New York appears in Ibiza armed with a bag of spray paints and a brain full of brilliant ideas. But on one fine day in July, that’s exactly what happened, when Alec created a priceless, one-of-a-king mural right on the Mambo walls. Painting his signature moustachioed Monopoly Man, he drew a huge crowd, keen to see a maestro in action. Meanwhile, Solardo spun the tunes as part of the Fisher at HÏ Ibiza pre-party and it’s fair to say that all of our senses were suitably titillated!
There are so many more moments we could mention but we hope that’s triggered a trip for you all to walk down Ibiza 22 memory lane! We can’t wait to welcome you all back next year but in the meantime, have the best Christmas and New Year, and get plenty of rest in time for summer 2023 — it’s gonna be a big one!
