Impressive Debut By OC & Verde
As Fridays go in Ibiza, this was one of the better ones, as the aptly named Hot Since 82 headlined a b2b set with the talented Nick Curly. The pair treated us to a quality set of base crunching techno, with many unreleased tracks featured. Ones that we did recognise, were the Martinez Brothers remix of A Better Light by Santos Resiak and the Hot Since 82 remix of Beg by Yousef. Both men treated us to a quality set and the crowd were really warmed up as Manchurians Ben O Connor and John Verde, aka OC & Verde entered the hallowed Mambo DJ booth to make their debut, and what an impression they left us with.
Already in posession of a BBC Radio 1 Essential Tune selection with Maasai, they opened with another of their own productions, Symphony, which dropped smooth and rich onto the sunset strip. It didnt stop there, as we were then treated to the tech house gem Cosmic by Latmun, followed up by How We Do from Raffa FI. The crowd were really getting into a finely tuned and composed set and when the Late Nite Tuff Guy remix of Roland Clarks, I Get Deep was dropped, the Mambo terrace went wild.
Keeping the house beat going, OC and Verde dropped the Riva Starr remix of Thrill Me by Junior Jack, before returning to the techno sound of Voices by Hot Since 82. Such an impresive debut deserved a polished ending and we were treated to just that in Fingerprint by Lane 8, which we are sure to hear a lot more of this summer as we will of OC and Verde, who are connected to the trend setting, Knee Deep in Ibiza party residing at Pacha.
